OUR HOUSE was chosen by a real-live artist, who is now my friend, 💁♀️to be a part of her "Denver series" house paintings. How cool is that?!
Back in the fall we received a note in the mail from some-artist 😜 specializing in paintings that depict the diversity of homes across the USA. The note said our house was selected to paint as part of a series on our city, and she wanted to give us, the homeowners, first option to buy the original painting.
Now, some people may have tossed this aside and thought "not interested" or "is this legit?" but I thought, "OH MY GOSH, DOES SHE KNOW I'M A BLOGGER WHO'S OBSESSED WITH HOUSES?!" 🤗🤩 I was stoked! And then when I looked up the artist, Leisa Collins, I was even more stoked to see samples of her beautiful work!
I contacted her right away, and we found a time to talk so she could show me the final painting. Isn't it BEAUTIFUL??! The colors. The detail. The everything. 🤩 (And the fact that it's not *quite* this beautiful in real life, so there's that.) 😂 She did such a good job, so of course I purchased the painting and have the perfect place to hang it! 🤗
Leisa Collins, the talented artist, mostly does commissioned paintings of homes, but she chooses her own subjects too -- like our house! She likes to create portraits that architecturally portray different geographic areas (and has even published a book depicting her watercolor journey Across America - view the Trailer about her book here). Our house is included in her Denver House Portrait Collection here 🤩 and she recently wrote a blog post all about our house here (I'm trying not to squeal 🤭 but...eeeeeeeek!)
Leisa told me that owners of these selected homes (like me) have asked how she came to choose their house (I was suuuuper curious). 😆 She gave this a lot of thought and wrote a blog post called, "12 points that make a home art inspiring!" It's fascinating - check it out and see how many "points" your home has.
Like I said, most often people hire Leisa to create paintings of their earlier homes, the family home they grew up, their home at the holidays, etc. It would make such a meaningful gift and the ✨perfect✨ keepsake, don't you think?? In case you're wondering if she can do portraits in YOUR state -- she can! Leisa has done artwork in every state across the USA. She can work off of your photos or can find a local photographer, if needed.
When purchasing one of Leisa's portraits, it includes a high-resolution digital image of the painting (like I included above). Using the digital image, I plan to print copies of our home for each of our kids to always remember the home they grew up in. And this picture is special to us because it's the home we became a family of five in, completing our family. Awwww... precious, huh?! 🥰
